Destination: Nyungwe Forest

Nyungwe Forest National Park is a stunning tropical rainforest in Rwanda, with high levels of biodiversity, a pristine landscape, and world-class wildlife viewing. Situated in the south west of the country, this is one of Africa’s oldest rainforests and has an incredible array of flora and fauna.

The park is most famous for chimpanzee tracking, which allows tourists to observe these intelligent primates in the wild. In addition to chimpanzees, Nyungwe has 12 other primate species, including colobus monkeys, golden monkeys, and the L’Hoest’s monkey. The forest is a paradise for birdwatchers, with more than 300 bird species, the majority of which are endemic to the Albertine Rift.

One of the park’s highlights is the Nyungwe Canopy Walk, a 160-meter-long suspended bridge offering thrilling aerial views of the forest 50 meters above the ground. Other activities include nature walks, hiking trails, and waterfall visits, all of which combine to make Nyungwe a perfect destination for adventure and eco-tourists.

Nyungwe Forest National Park, with its dense vegetation, varied fauna, and stunning landscapes, is a haven for nature lovers in Rwanda that cannot be missed.
